Another question most naturals, especially newbies, ask.
For sometime now i’ve been receiving messages from some ladies who have just had the big chop complaining about slow growth. A lot of them!
Imaginary Conversation 😀
Girl:I JUST HAD MY BIG CHOP BUT IT SEEMS MY HAIR IS NOT GROWING!!!
Me:When did you have your big chop.
Girl: TWO WEEKS AGO! 😀
You just had your bigchop (2 weeks, one month, two months ago) and you expect your hair to grow to neck length! Lol
Well… I’ve been there and i’m still there and i know what advice to give. 😀
-HAIR GROWS AT 0.5-0.9 INCHES EVERY MONTH…at normal rates 🙂
There are some exception; there’s individual differences, heredity and genetics etc.
Now..let’s be real 0.5+0.5= 1inch and that’s two months growth 😀
So you just can’t expect one inch of growth just 2 weeks after your bc.
Except you fall among the exceptions 😀 that i had stated earlier.
-NATURAL HAIR SHRINKS…a lot.
Some people have up to 75% shrinkage of their hair’s real length.
So if are 3 months post bc and you have approximately 1.5 inches of growth and you fall among the ‘some people’ that have such shrinkage.
Your gonna have 75% shrinkage of a 1.5 inches long hair and what are you left with… A very Teeny Weeny Afro of course, almost like you just cut your hair and you’ll end up concluding that your hair is not growing 😀
When it actually is!
Love your kinks and curls.. 😉
They are growing..really,they are!
You just take care of them and forget about length.
Check and compare your hair’s length in the next 10 months and you’ll be sorry you ever said that your hair isn’t growing. 😀
Patience to y’all..
