Using cod liver oil for hair can make hair stronger, promote hair growth and minimize hair loss. Many of the benefits of this oil come from the nutrients it contains.
These nutrients help promote overall health, and overall health is an important part of maintaining healthy hair.
A key benefit of cod liver oil for hair is that it contains OMEGA-3 fatty acids and high levels of vitamins A and D.
All three are known to help promote general health.
Nutrients encourage healthy hair from the inside by nourishing the hair follicles on the scalp, where hair growth begins.
When hair follicles are healthy, they promote the distribution of oils and vitamins down the
entire hair shaft. The disbursement of nutrients throughout the hair imparts a
healthier appearance and healthy hair looks shiny and feels soft. Nutrients from cod liver oil can make the hair stronger and help
protect it from breakage.
In addition to looking better healthy, well-nourished hair also grows faster. This is partly because
healthy hair needs fewer trims and is less prone to breakage. For these reasons, some people take cod liver oil supplements to help
promote hair growth.
Another possible benefit of using cod liver oil for hair is its anti-inflammatory properties. Some hair loss is caused by inflamed hair follicles, and eliminating the
inflammation might help keep hair intact, though individual results tend to vary. There is a lack of medical studies that prove this
supplement can prevent hair loss, but some people have reported a decrease in hair loss, perhaps in part because healthy hair is less
likely to fall out. Like other oils used in hair products, cod liver oil may have a moisturizing effect if applied directly to the hair, but i wouldn’t recommend this because
it has a strong fish odour. Instead, cod liver oil for hair can be taken in a variety of pill or tablet forms or mixed with something else.
Benefits should be visible after a few weeks of use of cod liver oil.
Using it as a Prepoo:
Since Cod Liver oil has a strong fish smell..its a better option to apply it as a prepoo as it could also have moisturising properties like other oils.
MY RECIPE:
1. Break Open 2 capsules of Cod liver Oil
2. Mix with 2 tbsp of any Carrier oil e.g olive, coconut oils. This is Optional.
(If you aren’ t mixing another oil, use four capsules)
3. Apply on your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before sham or co washing.
4. You can also apply to your sheamix.. Only
one Capsule.
Use as Deep Conditioner..
You can also alternate it for other oils in your DIY deep conditioner.
Adding it to your store bought conditioner is good too.
MY RECIPE:
1. Break open four Capsules of cod liver oil
2. Mix with Four tbsps of Mayonnaise or Mashed Avocado
3. Add few drops of an essential oil (e.g. lavender) (Optional)
4. Apply on hair and let sit for three hours or overnight
5. Rinse out with Cold water

Tried it out. Softens my hair very well!!!. Will substitute this for my olive oil conditioner. Iys amazing. Try it on your face too. Use a mild face scrub, then a baking soda mask, rinse off, then Massage cod liver oil on your face for 5 minutes, then wash off with a mild face wash. I use clearisil. Once a week. Fades Acne scars and leaves your face soft and smooth💖

I know honey too is good for the hair and skin. So can I add the two for my hair treatment
LikeLike
Yes you can but do it sparingly because honey is high in proteins and can harden the hair if the hair is protein sensitive ☺

Oh wow who knew fish oil was good for your hair. I just recently started taking two a day simply because I wanted to get back to my roots with the minerals n vitamin supplements. Growing up it was daily routine to take 2 vit c & 2 cod liver oil in my house, so here I am doing just that now.
Great post, so informative, thanks for sharing!

But why for just one month and that too daily just once? Does it have any side effects?

Use for one month to see how your body reacts to it. You nay have some allergies so just try first and see. If its OK you can continue. But a pregnant Lady shouldn’t take except with a doctors prescription

Any one is preferable. You can mix a little of the oil in your conditioner and do a test with a small portion of your hair. See if your hair likes it or reacts badly to it

I think you should probably stop using relaxers as they are harsh chemicals which denature the protein in your hair and therefore makes your strands weak resulting in breakage and hair fall.
For speedy growth, massage the oil into your scalp and leave on for an hour before rinsing off. You may want to add pepper mint oil to it as it stimulates blood flow to the scalp 😀

I just got my hair cut about 5 inches. Now it is a bit longer than my shoulder. I cut my hair to get rid of split ends and my layers. Whereas the barber cut layers again! I really want to grow my hair in one length and super long. Please tell me what I can do. I need it to grow around 6- 7 inches in two months as I have a photoshoot with a well-known brand. I hope you can reply soon,
Thanks
